Fake reviews can now cost a business fifty thousand dollars. Per review. But the part that really sticks? A lot of these businesses weren't trying to con anyone. They got buried by fake one-star reviews first.

So they fought back the only way that felt fair. And now that's fraud too. Which raises a question that's a lot closer to home than a fine from the FTC.

It didn't feel like cheating. It felt like surviving.
